As I write this brief note, we are having our first sunny day in the past seven. As of last Monday, we have had two major storms and constant light snow in between those events. The total snowfall was in the range of 44”-46” in seven days. One of those seven days had a total of over 20”. Besides the high snow totals, two or three days of strong winds over 40 miles an hour really had the snow pile up on the trails. Our base across the trail system is anywhere from 30” up to 72”!
The total snowfall for our area so far this 19/20 season is right around 250”!
Right now we are at 115 days of continuous grooming and skiing at Snow Mountain Ranch. At this pace our grooming season will come close to 180 total days! We are definitely on the downhill side of this winter with the best skiing yet to come. All the big marathons will happen in the next month and then most skier’s thoughts will turn to warmer weather activities. But wait – The best skiing of the season is in the West! Think spring break, fast snow, warm air, and blue skies and your skiing experience will never be better. Don’t forget the sunscreen and shades!
The Birkie is only 12 days away and our own Snow Mountain Ranch Stampede is three weeks after that on March 14-15. Get your last racing kicks in and then head to the mountains to have the best Nordic experience of your life at Snow Mountain Ranch! Enjoy the remainder of this beautiful winter and Ski On!
