INTRO TO OUTDOOR SKILLS WEEKENDS
We’re so excited for our Intro to Outdoor Skills weekends this fall! We’re even more excited to be joined by our guest speakers, Maggie and Chris Michalowski on September 28 and October 12. Maggie and Chris are local adventure parents and will give tips help your family get adventure-ready! Check out the full schedule here.
Maggie grew up in Gary, Indiana. She worked for eight years as a Colorado Outward Bound course director and currently heads the alternative experiential learning “Crew” program at Middle Park High School in Granby. Chris grew up in Eaton, Colorado. He worked for 5 years as a rock climbing guide in Estes Park and currently works for the local electric utility. They have two daughters, five year old Kit and three year old Quinn. Maggie and Chris met while living in their cars at a time when both of them were focusing entirely on maximizing their outdoor experiences. Now settled in Granby, CO living in a house with two kids, a garden and some chickens, they have found that having kids and maximizing outdoor experiences are not mutually exclusive. “As parents, how do we teach our kids that there is a world beyond social media, standardized tests, and soccer practice? You have to keep your kids safe, but you have to teach them to take risks and follow curiosity. Life is richer with a little bit of daring.”
