YMCA of the Rockies is offering its Outdoor Education curriculum for free to guests of the Y! As parents step into the role of teacher this school year, we are offering self-led environmental education lessons to make the experience fun and enriching for both kids and parents. Receive easy-to-follow, hands-on science and ecology lessons for kids in 4th-8th grade. These curriculum guides include fully equipped kits to provide parents the tools to teach grade-level appropriate science lessons. Classes include Elk Ecology, Water Ecology, Montane Forest Ecology, Outdoor Living Skills, Route Orienteering, and Night Hikes. These self-guided classes align with Colorado state standards including reading, writing, geography, life science, earth science, and physical science.
Other fun and educational classes include staff-guided lessons for the whole family, such as Bear Talk, Bugs Bugs Bugs, geocaching, creek stomping, fire quest, and more!
