Your Spring Break Itinerary
Are you itching to get away for spring break, but need to make everyone in the family happy? Consider a trip to Snow Mountain Ranch. Nestled on 5,100 acres between Winter Park and Grand Lake, Snow Mountain Ranch’s unique activities and convenient location will have everyone in the family asking to go again next year!
Enjoy the views of the Continental Divide as you drive onto the property and settle into your accommodations. Family cabins and vacation homes have fully equipped kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms. Hotel-style lodge rooms include a free-breakfast for two people for each night of stay and include the comforts of home. Rooms in Indian Peaks Lodge even include a mini-fridge and microwave in each room. And, did we say, enjoy the views?
Get acquainted with the property by driving the loop and finding the dog park, the Spruce Saddle Adventure Zone, the Nordic Center and the horse stables. The dog park and Spruce Saddle Adventure Zone are not cleared of snow in the winter or spring, but are still a bunch of fun for everyone!
Over dinner at the Buckboard Grill, plan your week of indoor and outdoor adventures.
Enjoy the snow! The Nordic Center at Snow Mountain Ranch features over 120 kilometers of groomed trails for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and fat biking. Equipment rental and instruction are available onsite, and trail passes are included in your overnight stay.
Lunch is available at the Skinny Ski Café at the Nordic Center where you can warm up and fill up with a hot bowl of chili and some hot chocolate.
Snow tubing is one of most popular family activities. Just wear warm, waterproof clothes and enjoy the thrills. New this year, we have snow making! It’s been a great snow year, but just in case it slows down, we’ll be making snow so your family can go tubing!
Or try ice skating, curling or broomball at the covered ice rink, right next to the tubing hill.
And for those seeking even more adventure, try our backcountry ski program or get a lift ticket at Winter Park or Ski Granby Ranch – both just minutes away.
To rest up from your active day outside, check out the craft shop where projects for all ages and abilities will take everyone away to their creative places. Crafts include pottery painting, glass fusion, mosaics and jewelry making. Plus, the traditional camp crafts such as wood burning, leather stamping and of course, tie dye.
For lunch, head to Schlessman Commons and enjoy a buffet-style meal with a little something for everyone’s tastes.
If afternoon activity is beckoning, check out the indoor swimming pool with its climbing wall, or head over to the Kiva for some roller skating, indoor rock climbing and archery, or a wacky game of Human Hungry, Hungry Hippos.
If you have more days to spend, be sure to meet the sled dogs and even schedule a sled ride with them. Our team had puppies in August, and they’re just starting to run with the team. If horses are your thing, Sombrero Stables, located at Snow Mountain Ranch, offers horseback riding and sleigh rides, some complete with a chuck wagon dinner or a campfire and s’mores at the historic homestead on property. Snow Mountain Ranch is also a short drive from Hot Sulphur Springs and Grand Lake, each of which offers its own brand of family adventure and entertainment.
