Do you ever find yourself with extra time on your hands during the middle of the week? Kids out of the house and looking for something to do? Why not check out YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park Center’s midweek programs this fall!
Fall is a truly remarkable time of year here at YMCA of the Rockies. With the leaves changing colors, the elk out in full-swing and the overall serenity, the sights and sounds of this time of year provide something for everyone looking to get take a midweek getaway.
On top of the other fall-oriented programming being offered by YMCA of the Rockies this season, the following programs will be offered and specifically catered towards active older adults looking for some time in the mountains during the middle of the week:
Rocky Mountain National Park in the Fall: September 18-20
Visit the Estes Park Center during one of the most spectacular times of year! Golden aspens, rutting elk and the first traces of snow on the mountain tops! Our knowledgeable hikemasters will lead interpretative hikes into the national park with a “focus” on nature photography. Evening sessions will be offered to learn more about the flora & fauna of the park as well as photographic techniques.
Special midweek lodging package includes two night’s lodging, 9/25 dinner through 9/27 lunch and all package-related program activities.
Rocky Mountain Adventure: September 25-27
Challenge your adventurous side in our Rocky Mountain playground! Learn basic rock-climbing techniques and scale our indoor climbing wall. Take a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park with our knowledgeable hikemasters. All activities will be led by our trained Adventure Activities Staff and will be geared to the ability levels of our participants.
Lodging packages for these dates include two night’s lodging, 9/18 dinner through 9/20 lunch and all package-related program activities.
We also encourage guests to extend their stay at the YMCA and take in the Town Of Estes Park’s annual Elkfest. Elkfest runs the weekend of September 29-30 and the free festival features bugling contests, elk exhibits, the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program, elk seminars, elk-inspired arts and crafts, Native American music, dancing and storytelling, a childrens’ area with elk-themed activities and a craft beer garden.
Vendors will display artwork, handmade elk-ivory jewelry, and will offer distinctive elk cuisine. Mountain men from around the country will gather at the Mountain Man Rendezvous to sell their wares and demonstrate their skills.
When you’re not in scheduled activities, you’ll have opportunities to enjoy other Estes Park Center activities such as our craft & design center, the Boone Family Mountain Center and our indoor pool.
