YMCA of the Rockies welcomed over 200 generous donors and Board Members, guests, staff and partners to the grand opening ceremony of the new Cecilia and Garrett Boone Family Mountain Center on Saturday, April 28, 2018. This 10,125 square-foot facility provides a base camp for nature exploration, environmental education, and high-adventure activities. In addition to housing a hands-on education nature center, two-story climbing wall, and a presentation room, the Boone Family Mountain Center serves as the staging and information area for hiking, fishing, mountain biking, archery and the zip line.
Julie Watkins, President and CEO of YMCA of the Rockies, is excited about the expanded resources the new facility offers. “The Boone Family Mountain Center is a welcoming hub of education and information that inspires families to get outdoors in a fun, safe and respectful way,” she said.
Guests at the grand opening event heard impactful stories from project donors, witnessed the ribbon cutting, enjoyed delicious cake and refreshments, and participated in lots of adventure! The YMCA thanks their generous donors and Board Members, B&E Builders Inc., Basis Architecture, ECOS Communications, as well as YMCA staff. The Boone Family Mountain Center is open year-round to serve YMCA members, guests and the community.
