In a 12-month span during 2016-17, we lost three former YMCA of the Rockies hikemasters. Maggie Luck, Dave Jacks and Ken TeSelle were exemplary guides who had a passion for leading hikes in and around Rocky Mountain National Park, sharing their knowledge about the area, and making sure our guests enjoyed themselves while keeping them safe. Each of these special hikemasters radiated a love of the mountains, a passion for hiking, and dedication to the YMCA of the Rockies.

Many in our hiking community have asked for a way to honor these former hikemasters. As a result, an Unforgotten Hikemasters Fund has been established in memory of Maggie, Dave and “Quarter-Mile Ken.” Donations to this fund will be used to purchase a gas-fueled fire ring which will be the heart of a gathering area near the new Boone Family Mountain Center. The names of Maggie, Dave and Ken will be engraved in the fireproof logs at the base of the fire. (The photographs give a general idea of what is planned.) All donations will be 100% tax deductible. The YMCA of the Rockies will send you a tax receipt along with a confirmation of your donation.
If you wish to honor Maggie, Dave and/or Ken with a contribution to this memorial fund, please make a check out to YMCA of the Rockies and indicate the Unforgotten Hikemasters Fund in the memo line. You may also make a donation online by visiting https://donate.ymcarockies.org/donate/unforgottenhikemasters/
We hope to dedicate the fire ring in June 2018.
Thank you for remembering Maggie Luck, Dave Jacks and Ken TeSelle, and thank you for being a part of our hiking family.
