Are you ready for an adventure? Well, you’re in luck! Camp Chief Ouray is currently at 93% occupancy, but we still have a few spots left in some pretty awesome programs.
“I always thought that the cool thing about our adventure trips is that they allow campers to see areas and environments that they may not be able to see otherwise. This, combined with forming bonds with new friends from different backgrounds, is what makes me look back at my first adventure trip at Camp Chief Ouray in 2008 and how great of a trip it was.” – Ian O’Brien, Leadership & Trips Director

Join us for this unique trip and a fantastic summer experience!
July 30- August 12, Ages 15-16
August 6- 19, Ages 15-16
Our Leader-in-Training (LIT) programs are the first step for campers looking to further their own leadership skills, meet lifelong friends and take the first step towards being a counselor at CCO. The first week of LIT is composed of a four-day backpacking trip in Rocky Mountain National Park where campers learn about back country skills and get to know each other as one cohesive group. The second week of LIT, participants do a service project, help out at the Snow Mountain Ranch day camp for an afternoon and take part in a wide variety of leadership skill activities. Many of the staff here at CCO at one point were a LIT camper and still look back at it as one of their favorite summers at CCO.
About the author:
Ian O’Brien- Leadership & Trips Director
Ian originally was sent to Camp Chief Ouray in 2004 because his mother was looking for a camp close to the Easter Seals camp his brother was going to in Empire. Little did she know he would stick around for eight years as a camper going through all of CCO’s leadership programs and then five more years as staff at CCO. His third through fifth years on staff were as a member of the leadership and trips staff guiding campers on backcountry adventures. He is beyond excited to oversee the trips and leadership programs which have changed not only his life but countless others’ as well. In his free time Ian enjoys running, petting strangers’ dogs, and throwing things at Sully.
