Every year, thousands of people pass through the YMCA of the Rockies and Rocky Mountain National Park to explore all of the hikes the area has to offer. In Estes Park, several stores and the YMCA of the Rockies – Estes Park Sweet Memorial building sell trail tag patches with the names of hikes in the park. There are over 100 tags and over 350 miles of hiking.
Something special that the YMCA of the Rockies offers is the Hiking Club Program. There are five different tiers to this program: 100, 250, 500, 750, and 1000 miles hiked. With each tier comes its own unique patch, specific to the YMCA of the Rockies.
Joining this club is free for participants; however, they must pay for the patches. All hiking will be recorded through Sweet Memorial and has to be done through the YMCA of the Rockies hiking program with a qualified Hikemaster. Participants can accumulate mileage from year to year until they reach their goals, even if they haven’t been at the YMCA of the Rockies each year. Finally, by joining the hiking program, participants will be able to see some beautiful sites throughout the national park.
