Marianne McCoy wanted to fulfill her mother’s wish to spend Christmas with all her children and grandchildren. She decided to book a cabin at the YMCA in 2011 and invited all 43 of her family members to come along.
“Because we all stayed in one cabin our family bonded more than they already were,” Marianne said. “We cooked, played games, ice skated, and went tubing. There was so much to do and we took advantage of it all.”
Not only did the family have fun spending time together, but Marianne also noticed the children’s character developing during their stay. When the kids got to do fun things with the adults they felt special, Marianne said. The time they shared together increased the children’s confidence and outdoor appreciation.
Their vacation at the YMCA also allowed the McCoy family to share a different kind of Christmas experience.
“The view from our cabin was breathtaking and the kids all got along well and were never bored,” Marianne said. “The memories we made for our children is priceless. Thank you YMCA—you helped us give my mom a magical holiday to remember always.”
