Colorado Ski for Light, Inc. was founded in 1975 and is a non-profit organization in Colorado that teaches the basics of classic cross-country skiing to adults who are visually- or mobility-impaired. Colorado Ski for Light also gives participants who have already learned the basics of cross-country skiing the chance to improve their skills.
The organization hosts an annual weekend event that is made possible by volunteer sighted and able-bodied experienced cross-country skiers who attend as guides and instructors. Each skier is paired with a guide who assists as needed or requested.
Colorado Ski for Light has been coming to Snow Mountain Ranch for the last ten years. This year, the organization presented a braille and tactile map of our Nordic trails to be hung on the wall of our Nordic Center. We are honored to have such an amazing map on our wall, and hope that you will have the chance to stop in to see it. The map features different textured trails to help skiers differentiate between ski trails, snowshoe trails, fat bike trails and more. Now, skiers that have been coming to Snow Mountain Ranch for Ski for Light are able to see and feel the trails they’ve been skiing for years!
