Meet Logan Williams, the new Volunteer Coordinator at Snow Mountain Ranch. An Iowa native, he first came to Colorado last summer and worked as a mountain guide.
“I thought to myself, I really need to find a way to stay out here,” Logan said. “I loved Colorado so much.”
He applied for the position of a Resident Assistant (RA) at Snow Mountain Ranch and worked the next 8 months in Colorado bliss.
“It was perfect because I love everything outdoors: slack lining, climbing, skiing, or hockey,” Logan said. “I’ll play any sport. I just really enjoy being outdoors.”
Right before he left to go to be a mountain guide again, the Volunteer Coordinator position opened up and he was encouraged to apply for it. On Logan’s last day as an RA he found out the position was his and he has been here ever since.
“I’ve been the volunteer coordinator for 4 weeks now,” Logan said. “It’s been a big change from my RA position and there’s been a huge learning curve, but I love it.”
His job responsibilities include processing volunteer applications and placing them in open volunteer positions.
“When a volunteer decides to help at the YMCA, I receive their application and try to place them where they want to volunteer,” Logan said. “If they can’t be placed there I try to find another place that fits them best. I also make sure they have housing taken care of while they’re here. I’m the go-to guy for answering all of their questions and making sure they are informed and happy while they are helping us here.”
Logan also helps organize the international seasonal staff, with over 60 people from all over the world coming to work at Snow Mountain Ranch.
“I’ve really enjoyed learning every aspect of being the volunteer coordinator,” Logan said. “Helping both volunteers and international staff can be challenging, but also very rewarding.”
