The history of YMCA of the Rockies is closely tied to the history of Colorado. We are very excited for the opening of Colorado’s new history center, History Colorado, on April 28th! There will be an opening celebration in Denver complete with performances of all kinds, presentations and crafts. Learn more.
New exhibits include The Great Map of Colorado and Time Machine, which is a large tile map of Colorado that comes to life with a “time machine” that visitors push over the map to hit hot spots that reveal video stories.
The People, the Place and the Promise exhibit is a collection of 132 LCD screens that feature a timeline of Colorado history from 10,000 years ago to the present.
Destination Colorado allows guests to step back in time to the town of Keota in the 1920s. Visitors can enroll in the town high school, ride in a Model T, visit a homestead kitchen and barter at the general store.
Colorado Stories takes visitors on a journey to eight Colorado communities from the 1300s to the present. Decscend into an 1880s mine shaft, take a virtual ski jump and visit a trading post from the frontier days.
